A Pit bull is any of several breeds of dog in the molosser breed group. Many jurisdictions that restrict pit bulls, including Ontario, Canada, Miami, Florida, U.S. and Denver, Colorado, U.S., apply the restriction to the modern American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, or any other dog that has the substantial physical characteristics and appearance of those breeds.

However a few jurisdictions, such as Singapore and Franklin County, Ohio, U.S., also classify the modern American Bulldog as a “pit bull-type dog”, while in the United Kingdom a pit bull is an American pit bull terrier.

All of the breeds share a similar history, with origins rooted from the bulldog and a variety of terriers.

The dogs called bull terriers before the development of the modern Bull terrier in the early 20th century may also be called pit bulls.

A pit bull is a fearless dog that will take on any opponent.

They will lock their jaws onto the prey until it’s dead.

Pit bulls have a reputation of mauling people to death and they are highly sought for dog fighting.

Dogs – in majority often makes a wonderful pet, nevertheless in certain circumstances, any kind of dog can be dangerous. Even friendly dogs, can impose great mischief in the wrong situation.

Once again, we are not against any dog breeds. Here’s a good video by Dog Whisperer enlightening the point for this list:

  2. Are you sure this is the list for most dangerous dogs because it looks to me that you just changed teh title because this is teh exact same list they have for most feared dogs. You really need to check your sources. Pathetic…

  3. Tristan says:

I beg to disagree on the title! Dogs are man’s best friend. However, if not treated right, they are indeed dangerous. But heck! I’m a dog lover myself, and I already handled different kinds of breeds. Again, it’s the way you handle them. If you treat them wrongfully, then what should you expect? I agree with Tinoco, Pit Bulls are gentle. It’s the media that making them a bad dog, especially those who are into pitbull fight… I pity on the dogs than than those bettors. 🙁

  4. I like the huskies!

  6. Intheclouds416 says:

You are aware that pit bulls had human aggression bred out of them in order to hide the fighting dogs correct? They are most sought out for dog fighting because of their jaw size and power not natural aggression. Yes they had aggression towards other dogs bred into them, but they are still fully capable of being loving household pets. I know because I own a German Shepherd, Rottweiler, and Pit Bull, and we have had no issues I would not expect from any dog. If you treat a dog correctly, they will act as such, and also, if you do a simple “guard dogs” search you get a more educated list. This is stereotypical, and dishonoring breeds featured in children’s books, American icons, and even military heroes. If you would like to talk about dogs that bite, Golden Retrievers are born with the most intense biting instinct, but I do not see them on this list. Regardless of the truth, every breed with be prejudiced against at some point in time. Lists like this, who feed into stereotypes, just make things worse, and those gentle souls that are instantly put down because of this encouragement are just innocent bystanders in everyone else’s struggle to escape their own ignorance.

This is so not true.  There is no such thing as a dangerous dog in truth.  They are dangerous because we make them that way.  Any breed of dog can be an amazing companion if owned by the right person.  Take this from a 15 year old who has owned Great Danes her entire life, which happen to be restricted under the same law as the Bully breeds.  There have been War heroes and even rescue and service dogs, which are Pit Bulls and many other of these so called “dangerous dogs”.

  8. piss of about pitt bulls a good well brought up pit bull will probably make whoever made this crap see the real dog thats gentle kind the best with kids and much more get a life its the people bringing up these dogs that make them the way they are there is more attacks by smaller dogs just not as bad because of their small mouths so get your fcts right

  9. I have 2 boxers, and they are playful, and very friendly, as are pitbulls. I met 3 schnauzers, all 3 wanted to kill me, or just bark ferociously. I met 3 pitbulls (1 adult, & 2 puppies), all of ’em never growled, they really are friendly, I have 2 friends who have them, they both like their pitty. Have these people ever watch “Dog Whisperer”? Your dog is what you make of it, Cesar has about 15 pitties, 2 rotties, 2 dobies, & 1 (or 2) GSG dogs in his pack, they help Cesar with socialization with dogs. Just saying

  10. Tasoula Tschida says:

you know what if you think all those dogs are dangerous you are SO wrong because you just think that they are born that way but they arent its the way they are trained and you know what  I people have been bitten by golden retrievers more than they have been bit by pit bulls my sister had a pitbull and he was nicer than my friends three stop accusing them of being cruel animals cause you are being cruel by saying that they are dangerous how would you like it if  people who have never even met you said you were dangerous.
