Gig Harbor Chainsaw Artist Turns Fallen Redwood into Giant Sea Octopus

Gig Harbor Chainsaw Artist Turns Fallen Redwood into Giant Sea Octopus

Artists can find inspiration in any material, even objects or items that others might deem as trash.

But Jeffrey Michael Samudosky, a chainsaw artist from Gig Harbor, Washington, turns a fallen tree – plain scrap but often neglected material into an incredible, and creative moving works of art.

As you can see from the images below, Jeffrey transforms a piece of a fallen tree into an impressive giant Pacific Octopus sculpture.

He first discovered his passion for chainsaw art while snowboarding in Vermont.

Noticing some wood-carvings by the side of the road, he decided to try and make his own, and since then his hobby has turned into his full-time job.

Jeffrey started JMS Wood Sculpture in 1998, and he now participates in wood art competitions around the world.

He usually gets inspiration on animals and Native American motifs with some art pieces have taken him up to four years in order to complete.
