ABC: Construction Jobs Grew By 23,000 in June

Construction employment climbed by 23,000 in June 2023, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data issued by the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics on July 7.

Since June 2022, industry employment has increased by 198,000, or 2.6%, to 7.947 million.

Nonresidential construction employment increased by 12,200 net positions, with growth in two of the three subcategories. Heavy and civil engineering added 7,300 jobs, while nonresidential construction increased 5,400. Nonresidential specialist trade contractors collectively lost 500 jobs.

The construction industry’s unemployment rate has risen to 3.6%. The overall unemployment rate fell from 3.7% in May to 3.6% in June.
